Park Ridge Creamery: Golden Milk with the Goldendoodle

Yesterday was a glorious Spring day. The sun was out until late afternoon and it was warm enough to leave the sweater at home. It was the perfect excuse - not that we really needed one - to head to our most favorite ice cream location in Ellicott City's historic district

Park Ridge Creamery opened their windows for the season and lots of Main Street visitors took advantage of it. If you are familiar with Ellicott City's history and the devastation the two flooding events in 2016 & 2018 have caused, seeing Old Town bustling with activity is simply a beautiful sight! If there's one small town USA that deserves all the love and support, Ellicott City is it - Gorden Ramsay very much agreed, by the way!

That would be another excuse - if you, or I, really needed one - to head to Main Street and Park Ridge Creamery on the regular. A third one would be the fact that Park Ridge Creamery supports another local business, Taharka Bros. ice cream Made in Baltimore.

My daughters' go-to flavors are pistachio & mint chip and caramel crunch & cookie dough. I usually go with whatever non-dairy flavor is on the board. Yesterday I had a choice between kiwi and Golden Milk. Having never sampled Golden Milk ice cream before, I was intrigued.

The flavor was out-of-this world! It wasn't only colorful, but so rich and creamy that I had to go back and ask if it truly was dairy free! Yes, it's vegan and gluten free (so, perfect!) and made from coconut cream with turmeric and cardamom. One scoop was enough for me to make it my favorite flavor of 2021.

Mr. Lennon, the not so golden Goldendoodle, very much approves!

Hello Andrea - sounds like an ideal Spring day in Ellicott City Maryland and at Park Ridge Creamery.  And it seems it was worthy of a very satisfied approval rating.  My niece and her husband have a Mini-Goldendoodle.  Not sure if he likes ice cream but he does appreciate belly rubs.

It was a perfect Spring day Michael - not so much today, however! Mr. Lennon loves belly rubs, too, he's a happy little guy.

Hi Andrea - yesterday was screaming Spring but today early April Showers.  Sounds like a wonderful flavor and I see your goldendoodle agrees.

Same Grant! Today I showed a couple of houses - rain events are really perfect for figuring out quickly if a property has a drainage issue and/or if gutters are in good shape!

Andrea, looks like you and your pooch had a great day, and was pretty warm here too.

We most definitely enjoyed a more relaxed afternoon Joan. It was much needed by all!

If I'm going to do the ice cream thing, I want the full affect of rich and creamy, with maybe a few nuts thrown in.

The pooch looks ready to try it as well.

Sounds delicious Ed! The Golden Milk flavor was super creamy, you would have never guessed that it was dairy free - I actually had to go back and make sure. As much as I love dairy, dairy doesn't love me back.

Hi Andrea... sounds like a lovely day... any day shared with a beloved dog is a lovely day, if you ask me. As for ice cream, I'm more of a coffee with chocolate chips flavor girl myself.

Ohhhh, coffee flavor with chocolate chips. Sounds delicious Nina! I don't tolerate dairy but am so happy that companies like Taharka Bros come up with the most delicious vegan flavors that I - almost - don't miss the real cream etc.

Andrea,

What a lovely day, and in my experience our dogs always loved ice cream, as did our cats.  I have not tasted vegan ice cream, I will have to give it a try.  A

You probably wouldn't have guessed that it was vegan Alexandra! It was very rich and creamy - delicious! My pup was drooling after getting a taste and begging for more, that's how much he loved it.

The Golden Milk ice cream really sounds and looks delicious, but it is so hard for me to get past mint chip.  It is the perfect combination of flavors for me.  I also love that not so golden, goldendoodle.

That is how my daughter feels, too, Raymond! She is always tempted by the many other delicious options but will still get one scoop of the mint chip.

I am definitely intrigued by the ice cream you chose and that really seems up my alley more so than the ones filled with sugar.

Tumeric and ice cream sounds like an odd combo, but it worked surprisingly well Brian. I'll most definitely go back for more.
