Yesterday was a glorious Spring day. The sun was out until late afternoon and it was warm enough to leave the sweater at home. It was the perfect excuse - not that we really needed one - to head to our most favorite ice cream location in Ellicott City's historic district.
Park Ridge Creamery opened their windows for the season and lots of Main Street visitors took advantage of it. If you are familiar with Ellicott City's history and the devastation the two flooding events in 2016 & 2018 have caused, seeing Old Town bustling with activity is simply a beautiful sight! If there's one small town USA that deserves all the love and support, Ellicott City is it - Gorden Ramsay very much agreed, by the way!
That would be another excuse - if you, or I, really needed one - to head to Main Street and Park Ridge Creamery on the regular. A third one would be the fact that Park Ridge Creamery supports another local business, Taharka Bros. ice cream Made in Baltimore.
My daughters' go-to flavors are pistachio & mint chip and caramel crunch & cookie dough. I usually go with whatever non-dairy flavor is on the board. Yesterday I had a choice between kiwi and Golden Milk. Having never sampled Golden Milk ice cream before, I was intrigued.
The flavor was out-of-this world! It wasn't only colorful, but so rich and creamy that I had to go back and ask if it truly was dairy free! Yes, it's vegan and gluten free (so, perfect!) and made from coconut cream with turmeric and cardamom. One scoop was enough for me to make it my favorite flavor of 2021.
Mr. Lennon, the not so golden Goldendoodle, very much approves!
