When I first began in real estate, I worked with two very experienced men in our office who had very different, yet successful styles.
One was very direct and was the first to pick up the phone and have a direct conversation with his clients or with agents. Everything about his marketing was direct. He hosted fun, large-scale events and smaller dinner parties at his home. He also made a customized premium item each year and hand delivered one to each of his past clients.
His clients really liked his direct approach and referred him tons of business. He also had tons of repeat customers.
The other man in my office was very systematic. He implemented a By Referral Only program and he had templates and campaigns. At settlement he gifted each client a cutting board that was hand-made by his father. After a client purchased a home, he had another plan - they would receive a series of calls and gifts.
His clients really liked his approach and appreciated all of his "touches".
Both of these very successful agents taught me a lot about generating business. I implemented ideas from each of them to build my business. Eventually I noticed that other agents were adding some of my ideas into their business plan.
There is nothing better than a brokerage that is collaborative and sharing. Years later, I feel fortunate to be part of the leadership team at another amazing and collaborative brokerage where I serve as a coach - sharing all the ideas I have encountered along the way.
