Let's Get Ready to Rumble... Not.

Hi John- your liking the market to The Hunger Games may be right! LOL I'm not an agent but I've been around long enough to see that pendulum swing.

Good morning John. In the business since the 70's I have seen the pendulum swing back and forth many times. Enjoy your day.

Good morning John - as a mentor once said to me "This too shall pass". The point of your post and I have been around long enough to see the swings.

New skills and fresh approaches are in demand during this difficult market for home buyers and their agents.
Top of the morning John, I am telling my buyers to get ready to swing the bat a few times and not to take it personal if they have to. But the best players at the plate are the ones who properly prepare. You are right, in skills and education we can best serve our clients in these demanding times. Enjoy your Easter, be safe, stay healthy.
PS...I came to your post thru Kathy Strieb weekly highlight. Mark
Yes, this crazy seller's market will eventually settle down. Time heals all!
The pendulum will certainly swing and the bigger issue will be if the over priced listings need to be sold and will anyone bail out the sellers
I see the rants on social media from buyers agents all the time and as a listing agent, would love to see how much coddling they would give to 25 agents who lost a bid. Nonetheless, I have made it a practice to call each agent, because that's what they want. If they aren't there, they get a voicemail vs. an email. Guess what? At least a handful in every crowd gets angry because I never called them. REALLY? Check your voicemail!!!!
This market is nuts. NO ONE'S job is easy right now. We're stressed to the max and working harder than we ever have. Let's choose to believe we are all doing the best we can and stop blaming.
Shift happens, and it will once again. But you're right, it's a challenging market right now.
Hi John,
I have to admit, your name caught my attention before your post. I have a brother with the same name! But your post is dead on. I think we all have to be flexible to work the market we are given. The strong do survive.
The reputation agents build in trying times is the reputation they'll carry throughout their careers. And, whether they like it or not, agents should remember that their reputation with other agents, lenders, appraisers, etc. WILL affect their business.
Hi John, the real estate market changes, we have to adapt and always put our customers/clients first.
And yet, this has already been one of my best years ever. But that's a holdover from last year. I've cancelled all my usual advertising for now trying to attact buyers, to see how the rest of the year will shake out. It's all about getting listings right now and that's through personal contacts for me such as referrals.
There isn't any excuse for not delivering superior service. Every business should have a process for all operations of their business, no excuses when you have a comprehensive business plan and execute the process.
It's happened so many times in the past it's laughable. It will cool down sometime.
Thanks for the feedback. It sounds like your experience has been similar to mine... as soon as I think I have it figured out - everything changes. The answer? The answer? I am going to keep helping my sales people do real estate sales at a very high level - no matter the market. This mentality has served us well in the past and I'm confident it will continue to serve us well in the future. Good luck to y'all.
