Wendell and Michelle were up at Scotties' Eat-Mor for lunch.
Wendell, sunburnt and tired, but looking a bit more rested,
gave us the news.
"It's down."
"We can sleep at night, and not be so anxious," Michelle said.
They have gotten their letter rejecting their flood claim from their insurance carrier,
and are going to try to refinance their home to get back on their feet.
Wendell is going back to work this Saturday.
No rain is forecast.
There are fundraisers in town this week at a local tavern,
a mattress truckload sale;
...a gas station is giving vouchers good for 5 gallons fo gas for those
that are using generators to run their pumps.
And there was practically a riot when they were
handing out food vouchers for those in flood areas in Milwaukee.
The helicopters are still buzzing in during the day.
There is still standing water in, well, too many homes and businesses.
Five inches.
The river in Ft. Atkinson is down five inches.
And there are still plenty of problems downstream.
Whole towns wiped out.
No cause to celebrate, but plenty of reason to hope-here, now, anyway.
Thanks for all of those who have stopped by with kind words, offered prayers
and their best wishes.
We send them on to all those living in the neighborhood on the river, or levee, everywhere.
Steve
