"A beaver does not, as legend would have it, know which direction the tree will fall when he cuts it, but counts on alacrity to make up for lack of engineering expertise."

Yes, an absolutely hungry beaver indeed!  I once worked at a software development company that enjoyed a nice nature spot at the foot of the Sierra Nevada foothills.  There was a nearby stream that had a community of beavers who had built a dam.  It was fascinating to watch.

Hi @MyrlJeffcoat - it is indeed fun to watch what these beaver have been doing. Several years ago near this spot they got well into a much larger Cottonwood tree (at least 30" in diameter) and the Park maintenance staff ended up taking the tree down in a safe direction!

Hi Alexander-Slocum Realty Team,  Thanks for sharing these great pictures.  I have seen plenty of beaver chewed trees in my days, working as a forester.

Hi Alexander- We saw evidence of beavers in a man-made lake near where we walk.  I love the quote by Ann Zwinger.

Hi @KathyStreib - beaver seem to adapt to man-made lakes and ponds, as long as they have enough food to chew on!
