Sometimes people ask me why I am with a regular broker. I could make so much more money with a $500 transaction fee. I tell them that I feel that I get value for my split. I get great tools and advice. I have transaction coordinators and a team that make my job easier. I have people who hold me accountable. My broker has given me tools and advice that help me serve my clients better. I am not caught by surprise by changes in the market. This gives me the ability to compete with the frenzy that is our sellers market in the Treasure Valley in Idaho. Both as a listing agent and a buyers agent I know what to expect.
This month our brokerage is starting a program called RAMP. My personal office is doing this together. I can't make most of the in person meetings but I catch up on Facebook live. Then on Fridays we will have a late meeting I can make. My brokerage is investing in my future. If I sell enough homes my split will become better. Perhaps this year my goal is to reach that mark.
I am lucky I am a professors wife. We do not earn a huge amount of money. I started in real estate to help pay college tuition for my three sons. They are now all professionals and that why is over. I like what I do but I do not have a huge amount of needs. Our home is almost paid off. We have retirement savings in both TIAA/CREF and rental houses. We are happy. Our children do not really need our monetary help and now are friends. We have a group of friends that we can count on. They can count on us.
I am mostly happy. This course might take me to the next level. I am a really good agent . I know how to do it all but like everyone else I need a push. This course should be a good push. If my busy broker can dedicate an 1 a day to facilitate this course I can dedicate the time to take it.
So I just did the third session at 6 AM in the morning surrounded by my pets drinking my morning coffee. It is time to start my day. Today will be busy. I have to go to the coming soon twice. Their is a funeral in between. I need to price out a home for a new referral. I love referrals. It means someone thinks enough about me to recommend me to their friends and family. I want to always earn that trust by a job well done. These are my thoughts as I start the day.
