Knowing When It's Time to PIVOT

Real Estate Broker/Owner with Beam & Branch Realty TREC #547752

I believe we have all had to learn how to pivot in this past year! No doubt, life has been an interesting ride. The key, however, has been to learn when and how to PIVOT.

First of all, why do we need to pivot at all? Well, if we remain in the same position when everything around us is changing, we better quickly make an assessment of where we are going. Those who remain fixed and unbending often find the world and the opportunities have passed them by.

Next, the trick is to learn HOW to pivot. This of course depends on many things. For the sake of this post, we will focus on our careers. Learning to pivot in your chosen profession will make or break you. For me personally, I choose to make it!

Here is an easy way to remember the lessons regarding to PIVOT:

The first step in turning in a new direction is knowing what is important and what can you can let go of.  Determine the essential necessities for your business as a template moving forward.

I N N O V A T I O N

It may be time to begin trying new ideas. When we are faced with big changes, they often require a new way of thinking. Being innovative and creative as you seek new horizons will help you pivot with perfection.

V A L U E

Taking the time to value what is good in your life, your work, and the people you interact with is key. Knowing what you value will help you as you move forward in a new direction. Make sure and let those around you know how much you value them and make sure that you give yourself the value you deserve.

When you keenly observe what is going on around you, small details can come alive. Getting a new perspective can assist you in making observations that can make a huge difference as you pivot. Seek advice from others through their observations as well.

The tenacious person will be the one who survives and thrives when life throws a curveball. Having the determination to understand when it is time to pivot will pull you through. Never give up and stick to the plan.

I hope that you are rocking your business and have learned to pivot when needed. May you dig in and seek new horizons as this world is ever-changing. May you LIV2DAY!

I think many of us have learned how to pivot during this pandemic.  It also kind of reminds me of a Clint Eastwood line in the movie, "Heartbreak Ridge" - "You gotta improvise, adapt, overcome."

Morning Paula.

I pivot at least two to three times a week.  Sometimes, I wonder if I am still keeping up with all the changes.

This is on target - life is constantly changing, and we often have to change as well. Tenacity spoke to me - having determination, never giving up - those things can help with many areas of our lives.

Enjoy your day!

"Value" is important to me.  I used to give a lot of time to projects and people that filled time but, in the end, I had to evaluate what I was getting out of it for my business.  If I enjoyed it personally, so be it, but not keep the illusion that it was good for business if it wasn't.

Dear Paula,

We are the lucky ones, who can still pivot. Not everyone made it this far in the past year.
