Color adds to the experience of selling and buying a home. Green is a welcoming color and most anticipated as we leave winter and enter the much-awaited spring. After the pristine white of winter is gone and the grays and browns are left before spring arrives, the much-needed spring clean-up of yards and gardens uncover and await the colors of spring. People associate spring with seeing the grass turn green, and the added colors from crocuses, daffodils, and pansies bring it to life.
Spring traditionally is the most active time in the Real Estate seasonal cycle. Homeowners who have been preparing to sell their homes shoot to be ready to put their homes on the market in the spring. Many want to be ready and out there as soon as spring arrives.
After we leave the hibernation of winter, especially a winter like we had compounded by the isolation brought on by COVID, there is hope this spring will follow tradition and add more homes to the Real Estate market. For the last several years, we have continued to see a lack of homes for sale. It has now moved into a severe drought, hitting a record low.
At the end of February, the Realtor Association of Pioneer Valley reported only 386 single-family homes for sale, covering all three counties. At the end of February 2020 (pre-pandemic), there were 1117, which was considered low then.
We can only hope there will be homeowners willing to sell this season for the many home buyers anxiously awaiting new homes to come available.
Still considered a seller's market because of low supply and high demand, it is an opportune time for a homeowner to sell.
Happy Spring!
