Tonight I spoke in a group of friends. The subject was about relationships. We had all just heard a talk where it was said for successful relationships, we must be humble and look to serve the other person.
Funny thing is how many of the people said, “I agree. But, you have to start by saying that, I must get ______”. In other words, they said I agree, but it was wrong. They were after all, looking after themselves first.
How many of us will do the same to our customers? How many times do we say “yes, but no” or an “Always, but never”. That lack of consistency can cost us integrity.
