Not just a bag of screaming cats, anymore.

Charita Cadenhead was kind enough to introduce me to Gunhild Carling from her Facebook page.

Honestly, initially as I watched the video, I thought that Gunhild was clearly drunk, and this was going to be awful... but as I continued to watch, I found that the bagpipes could make music like I'd never heard.  Definitely not your father's bagpipes.

I'm a jazz afficianado... well, maybe not so much an afficianado, as much as I enjoy jazz, anyway.  I hope you enjoy this.  I surely did.

Alan,

What a threat this is, this is the first time I have heard the bagpipes played as jazz.  This is wonderful!  Thank you for sharing this with us...A

I have not yet seen Gunhild play bagpipes but the raw musical talent of this human floors me. I discovered her on a Scott Bradlee video a while back... playing trumpet, singing, tap dancing. Talk about jaw drop. Every thing she does is just super hard and she makes it look so easy. Here's a video interview with her and Scott. I watched a little just now. She plays the trumpet in about 6min mark. shock and awe :) Thanks for sharing the bagpipe view. How does that happen with that instrument? Never would have imagined.

I've seen her play trumpet and trombone... and singing... but haven't seen any tap dancing yet... but that doesn't surprise me.  She is quite talented.

Hi Alan- what a hoot!  And I'll bet she's a hoot at a party. How in the world does she have enough breath left to play the bagpipes after doing what she does?

I can't even imagine her at a party.
