This is an entry in this month challenge, hosted by Kathy Streib and Hannah Williams. Thank you both.
Summerland is the next village after Carpinteria heading North towards Santa Barbara. It has a population of 1545, and a beautiful 4 acre coastline cliff park. Lookout Park is usually open from Sunrise to Sunset.
Recently the county upgraded the Eastern side of the park to include additional barbecue grills, a bocce court and two ping pong tables. We loved the creative use of the driftwood for the top beams on the gazebos (pictured above).
The park also has access to the beach, hiking trails, restrooms, a shower for those wanting to wash off the sand on their way up from the beach, plenty of picnic tables and more barbecue grills. It is a dog friendly park.
At one time the beach was a nudist beach. Now bathing suits are required. Horses and other equines are allowed on the beach. It is a joy to watch them gallop in the surf. If you don't have a horse, you can rent them at Summerland Beach Rides.
