Anyone doing business with "Cut Co."? a closing gift company selling kitchen knives

Hi.  I recently got a call from a company called Cut Co. which sells knives engraved with your info as a closing gift.  I'm planning on having them in for a weekly business meeting.  Is anyone using their services?  If so - what has your experience been with them and do you think the closing gifts and follow up programs they offer help you secure future biz with your clients?  Thank you!  Shawna

His Shawna,

CutCo is a very old company, and makes a decent product. That said, I don't use their product, and personally won't purchase it as a gift for someone else. Why? I don't like the heft and feel of the knives. They don't feel balanced in my hands, and I don't really see where they offer me what i want as a high end cook (I haven't attended culinary school, so I am not formally by education, a chef), who is writing a cookbook of my original recipes.

I prefer high carbon steel knives (old school knives you can't put in the dishwasher). I use products from Henkels, and Sabatier, because of their quality.

You might want to look at these products, and if you want them engraved, give the busienss to a local sign or award shop. I believe the maniufacturers of these products also can do this for you, and direct ship them to your clients.

You local Target store may stock the henckles products, but, be careful, as these aren't the high grade products.

Thanks for the excellent feedback, Lou.  The part I liked best about what they offer is that they will go to the client's home and sharpen the knives on their one year anniversary.  But...if people don't use the knives - they most likely won't need them sharpened!

I have always visited their booths at the trade shows that I do.  They seem to make a very nice knife.  I think knives are all a personal feel and everyone likes a little something different.  I am really hoping for my MAC Santoku to be under the tree this year.
