Aloha Friday from Upcountry Maui - it really is paradise

bird of paradise flower on Maui

Well the bird of paradise flower has kind of fallen out of favor, but it's nice to see it still pops up in some gardens.  These pictures are from Thompson Road, in Kula Maui, where the climate is more temperate and the pastures are green and beautiful.  It's no wonder that Oprah built a dream home in the area.

Find a home for sale in Kula Maui and call me to help you get it nailed down!

If you mean the tall traveller's trees, yes we have some of them too.  Be warned that they can get HUGE and will block out the sun and everything else eventually.  They can become very invasive and hard to get rid of

Such an interesting plant and so beautiful. Buyers and sellers would be wise to call you when ready to make a move.

What lovely photos, Georgie. I had no idea that the Bird of Paradise had fallen out of favor... what a shame... I always liked them.

Last time I was in Hawaii, the Bird of Paradise was a big thing! I'm surprised it has fallen out of favor.

Love your photos!

Hi Georgie:

Your beautiful photos bring back fond memories of several Maui visits...and more to come. We really liked the upcountry area! And of course Haleakala was incredible.

Georgie Hunter R(S) 58089 - I just love the Bird of Paradise. It's too bad it's "fallen out of favor." I would welcome it in my yard in Flower Mound anytime! I just love to read your posts. It sounds like things have improved and I hope tourism finds its way back to Hawaii!

Those are stunning photos, Georgie.  And, when I look at the Bird of Paradise, I'm reminded how much plant life can sometimes imitate animal life.
