I know that most real estate professionals already do this, but some don’t and I’d like to address this. As a home stager, part of my marketing is going to open houses, both public and realtor specific. Now, I don’t always get the sheets where the realtor open houses are going to be, but in our county, it is mapped out by area and week so I drive around and find the signs and visit them. Here’s the catch, I know there are way more open houses than I am seeing signs for.
My idea is if you are going to spend the time hosting a realtor open house, why wouldn’t you put directional signs out??? Now, I know it’s for realtors but many of my realtor friends have said that while they were hosting it, a neighbor came by and said they were interested in selling --- Ah, a lead. Or there are others people who are looking to buy and drive by and see an open house sign might stop by…a prospect.
Now, I know sometimes it’s because you need the feedback and the house truly needs some work and I understand that. But you have already put a sign up in the front yard, you have already started the process and if you need feedback, the stagers who stop by are always happy to give honest feedback.
I am just saying, you just never know who will be stopping by. You are already there hosting an open house, why not encourage others to show up, get the word out.
I would love to hear your thoughts.

I think you are absolutely right...a sign in front of the house won't do much, you might as well have arrows pointing saying dammit here I am instead of spending 4 hours sitting in a house with just passerbys

Kirstyn - thanks for checking in. I can't tell you the number of houses I've stopped by where it is just the realtor and no one else.

Sharon, you are very correct. Some of the real estate companies have their open house schedules on their website. Not all of them though. Maybe I'll bump into you at one soon!
