The Shumard oak tree, or Quercus shumardii, is an impressive tree that can reach a mature height of 80 feet. It is a lovely landscape tree that can even thrive when planted in urban areas. It is highly adaptable to its environment and there are no problems planting it near structures or streets because the roots form a shallow system. This oak is a relatively fast-growing tree that is low maintenance, and ideal for many areas, including those with colder climates.
Due to the width of the crown, the Shumard oak makes a great shade tree. In the fall it also adds color since the leaves turn from green into vibrant red and orange fall colors. Instead of flowers, this oak tree bears acorns which also provide many small animals and birds with a source of food.
The Shumard oak tree thrives in a variety of soil types, such as moist, sandy, or clay. This particular type of oak tree is also tolerant of harsh conditions like drought and wind. One of the only requirements to take into consideration when planting a Shumardi oak tree is that it needs full sun exposure.
Tn Nursery reviews are excellent and I would give them a try before I bought anywhere else. Jay Windsor- Paris Tn
