Thankful Thursdays...For Our Decision
Last year as we all navigated the waters of the Pandemic, we learned a lot about ourselves, about how we might do things differently, and about what would have happened if...
The "if" I thought about was how different life might have been for Larry and me had we not returned to Houston in 2019.
Back in 2018, Larry and I decided that it was time to return to Houston and to be closer to family. We had lived in Delray Beach since 1987 with the exception of about 4 years in Leesburg, VA, and 3 years back in Houston for Larry’s work.
We left Florida in January of 2019 and haven’t looked back. When Covid hit, I realized that this move was meant to be.
I am grateful that we were not living in Florida, because we would not have been able to visit our families here in Texas, Kansas City or Omaha.
I am grateful that we were closer to our families to help out where and when we could.
And, coming home to Houston really was coming home. I missed the Texas accents. I missed people being courteous and kind to each other. I missed people not looking at you like you were nuts if you smiled and said “hello” to them.
Sometimes you make decisions and have no idea how they may impact you down the road.
