This Week...A Focus on Earth
The weather is improving for many of us so it has been a good week to focus on Earth Day. I also learned that today is National Go Birding Day!!
There are no passengers on spaceship earth. We are all crew. Marshall McLuhan
Throughout the pandemic, what has kept our spirits up has been being able to be outside and walk free...no masks...and take in the full palette of Mother Nature’s artistry.
On earth there is no heaven, but there are pieces of it. Jules Renard
We are all passing through this place we call Earth so it pains me when I see people abusing its resources and even throwing their trash out on roads or our parks.
We have forgotten how to be good guests, how to walk lightly on the earth as its other creatures do. Barbara Ward
When I look at store shelves or ads, so much of what I see is meant to be thrown away after one use.
When we were in Delray Beach, I loved the beach clean-ups but it was also sad to see cigarette butts, plastic bags and bottles, and other trash either thrown on the sand or washed up onshore.
I don't feed the birds because they need me; I feed the birds because I need them.
And I will never forget the sight of a pelican struggling with a fishing line wrapped around its beak. We were under the bridge going out of the inlet and the current was taking us away from it. We called the Marine Patrol and hoped for the best.
It’s up to us to teach our children and others. We have to be the stewards as we gently pass through.
The presence of a single bird can change everything for one who appreciates them.
See if you can spot some birds this weekend!
