Everyone knows that todays market is a crazy one. We have potential buyers lined up outside open houses and going waaaaaay beyond normal terms in their offers, we have listing agents getting to put together information on tons of multiple offers per listing, we have buyers agents with customers putting in offers over and over and not coming out the "winner". Yes, tempers are running short, we have frustration running rampant all day long from all parties.
In all of this madness and chaos there is really one thing you can control and that is how you treat each other. Real estate agents on both sides of a transaction are working towards the same goal - to get the house sold with terms that both seller and buyer can agree on. It takes a lot to accomplish this goal.
Realizing that some kindness goes a long way. Calling/texting a listing agent over and over again when they don't pick up the phone on the first call - leave a message. Let the buyers agents know in a timely manner that their buyers' offer was not chosen and that you'll let them know if anything changes. It's just little things that can go a long way towards making the market we find ourselves in work a little better and run a little smoother.
If all else fails, remember you WILL have to work with these agents again at some point in the future and unkind treatment tends to stick in a persons' memory for a long time.
