A Grain Of Salt. . .
Yeah, I admit to a bit of skepticism. It’s healthy, right? But like anything, the recipe of life is defined not only with ingredients but with measurements and knowledge of a world greater than any one object where all sorts of things are combined to create works that can become a masterpiece or a mishap. Many may eventually fall into the "meh" category. Let's be honest, okay?
Any of my culinary adventures seem to have varying results. Somewhere between the suspicious and barely edible category. Life, on the other hand, offers some other options.
Lessons can be learned from books as well as on-the-job-training. Attempts that seem apprentice-like or amateurish can eventually lead to different destinations.
Sometimes a work-in-progress is nothing but a piece-of-work. As in a real piece of work. Now where did I place that sarcasm font when I need it most? Perhaps it's over there next to that missing spiralizer or that spoonful of sugar. It's always something. Too much of this. Not enough of that.
I may not know my way around that room but even John Donne seemed to have a clue about the importance of the kitchen world way back when he mentioned it in one of my favorite quotes. After all - no man is an island. Not even, or especially, when it matters most.
