Kiplinger Magazine is Looking For Buy & Bail / Walkaway Sellers

By
Real Estate Agent with Elizabeth Anne Weintraub, Broker DRE #00697006

I have been interviewed by Kiplinger Magazine for its October issue, and the staff writer just sent me an email asking for client names or agents who have worked with Buy and Bail and / or Walkaway sellers. Since none of my sellers have abandoned their homes, I thought I would ask the folks on Active Rain if they or anybody they know would like to participate in this article.

If you do, please don't respond with your contact information in this post -- email me privately, and I will pass on your data. Thanks a bunch!

Elizabeth

This year I have worked with two walkaway sellers.  I think the response will be large as anyone in the business today is likely to either work with a walkaway or know someone.  This problem is only growing.

by the way, Do you have an outside blog that I can add to my Blogroll ?

Thanks and look forward to reading your thoughts on the world of real estate.

Put 40 years of experience to work for you

Hi James: So do you or don't you want Kiplinger to call you? It would be easier if you emailed me your contact information than sending the writers to your blog.

My "outside" blog is Home Buying & Selling at About.com.

Well, look for the real estate market article in October's issue of Kiplinger. I gave a 90-minute interview about the state of the real estate market and the struggles facing first-time home buyers. It has nothing to do with REOs or Buy and Bail sellers. The staff writer who emailed was referred by the reporter I talked with. That writer was hoping to interview a few foreclosure sellers and thought I could refer her to other agents. I'll try my own office. We have 80 agents at Lyon Real Estate in Midtown, almost 1,000 company-wide -- surely one of them has a client who would like to participate. :)

It pays to help out media, you know

Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are well aware of this phenomenon and have addressed it in Fannie's recent announcement.

If a consumer can afford both house payments with no rent offset, there's not a bloomin' thing Fannie/Freddie can do about a subsequent decision to abandon an underwater property.

And so it goes.
