How to Reset When You Feel Burned Out

Most of us have felt it in the last year. It's that feeling of burnout we just can't escape.

With the pandemic, high stress levels, and LOTS of changes to routine, we've all been stretched thin in recent months.

So, what do you do when you need to re-set? When it's time to re-evaluate and find peace and tranquility? Here are a few great ideas:

1. Plan a Self-Care Day

I mean, why not? Schedule a day (or a few hours) in your calendar to do exactly what you want to do. Read a book outside, take a nature walk, or get together with old friends. Because life is meant for pleasure, even when we're going through difficult things.

2. Do a Self-Care Challenge

Challenges are awesome because they force you to stick to something for more than a day or two. So, tell your friend about this 30-day self care challenge, and send each other a picture every day that shows you following through on taking care of yourself.

3. Do a Digital Detox

We're online more than ever before. But the problem is that when you're addicted to noise and busyness, it's difficult to see the life that's going on around you. Commit to a day or a week, and leave your devices in the dust.

4. Get Out of Your Comfort Zone

And finally, we are most often in a rut when we've spent a lot of time doing things within our comfort zone. So, see a new landscape, try a new food, or take a step towards that big dream of yours. Go out and take a risk, and you'll find an easy way to re-set and gain adventure.

In Conclusion

I hope you enjoyed these ideas to re-boot when you need to. They always work for me both to re-set, but also to get my priorities straight and take better care of my health.

How do you like to re-set?

Hi Jennifer,  So many great ideas to try.  I have been pretty good - but there are some days where an extra boost sure wouldn't hurt.  Thanks for sharing.

Great points Jennifer.  I like the self-care option.  It seems most of us never have enough time in one day to get all of the work-related things done that we "have" to get done.  It's hard to just really look around and see and enjoy the beautiful things all around us.    For number three, I'd like to throw my iPhone in the drawer and leave it there for a week or more.   Thanks for the reminders!
