Denver Metro Area Residential Watering Rules

We are at the time of year where the Denver metro Cities put restrictions on residential watering.  From May 1st to October 1st, homeowners are not to water from 10 am to 6 pm, and water only three times per week.  Hand watering follows this same guideline.   When you first turn on your sprinklers, it is wise to check to be sure you are not watering the concrete.

New sod, seed, or irrigation systems will need a permit from the City.  Installing a rain sensor is helpful to determine if you need water.

Currently, we are not as bad as some years, as we had quite a bit of snow this past year, but every metro city wants to ensure we have water for the future.

There are fines for the infraction and major fines for those afterward.

Hello Joan - knowledge of local laws is important.  So many have "opinions" but awareness of the rules makes a difference.

Joan Cox hi Joan... I hadn't realized this was an "annual event" in your area. We've had restrictions on watering only a few times in all the years I've lived in Charlotte -- during years with drought conditions.

Michael Jacobs water restrictions have been in place for years, especially those years that fire danger has been high.

Nina Hollander, Broker we are usually in drought conditions, but you wouldn't know that right now.   Has been raining since late yesterday and should rain through Wednesday.  VERY unusual.

Joan Cox raining hard here today, as well. We should have thunder storms on and off for a couple of days. Then it will clear up... fortunately in time for the Wells Fargo PGA Tournament at Quail Hollow.

Norma J. Elkins you probably get LOTS more rain than we do.   We can get thru a whole summer and never see a drop.

Rocky, that would be good, and eliminate fire danger for the whole western region!

Hi Joan Cox -

Sedona is one of the only cities that does not put water restrictions out there.  Of course, most homes have drought-resistant plants.  We have 3 private water companies and have not had any major issues with water conservation. I hope this works out well for your area.

So many rules in the world, haha.  It is definitely good to know what the rules are though.
