Throwback Thursday: Visiting the Bargello Museum in Florence!

By

Pictured above is a sculpture of a fish fountain in marble at the Bargello Museum.  We liked its whimsy and design.

It is the least visited museum in Florence, and least known by the tourists.  Although we had been to Florence many times, 2019 was the first year we visited this museum.

We had learned that among its treasures  was a Michelangelo statue of Bacchus, the god of wine and winemaking. My picture did not turn out as well as this one from Wikipedia, which is in the public domain.

Wishing everyone a wonderful Thursday!

That looks like an interesting museum, and the fact that it's not that popular with tourists would make it even better!

I have never been much into art but I still have an appreciation for how much talent it takes to create works of art as you have pictured.

We really enjoyed Florence.  There were so many great museums that we just happened upon.  I do not think we made it to the Bargello Museum.  We will have to go back!

Bill Salvatore - YVP Blog You mean the Louvre.  I just read an interesting story in a French magazine I subscribe to, that a Saudi Prince who paid $450 million for a painting by Leonardo da Vinci wanted to hang in next to Mona Lisa. The Louvre agreed providing that the painting was done by da Vinci.  They authenticated that it was partially painted by the master and his students.  It was something that often happened as a painter became famous.  The Mona Lisa was do by da Vinci himself.  The Louvre refused the painting.  A
