Diary of a New Agent (Orientation, Logos and more)

By
Real Estate Agent with Acquire Real Estate

Good Evening! I cannot believe I was a featured post today! I do not know how one becomes a featured post, but I am honored. Again, I cannot express enough appreciation to those that are wishing me well or encouraging me. I am also humbled that I am inspiring others. I love to help others and that is one of the reasons I chose this career. Writing this blog has really become a great way to clear my mind at the end of a day. I get to celebrate my successes and express my frustrations and fears. It is great.

Today I went to the Market Center (aka office) for New Agent Orientation. Most of it was basic things - culture, who is who, throw your trash away, etc. But then I got a 30 minute overview of the paperwork for a listing and sales contract. OMG - I came home with blank contracts. I could actually go out and write a contract. Scary! But wait, I still can't get into the MLS so I guess I'll wait a little while longer and that is probably a good thing. BTW - I was able to pick up my actual license today for the RE Commission. YEAH!

The most exciting part of the day for me was this evening. My friend, Shannon, came over to discuss my new logo. It turns out she does all sorts of great graphical design and is very excited about creating my business cards, brochure and more. In exchange I am excited about getting her more business. I know there is a market for people needed personalized business cards and more to help them stand out. I can't wait to show you my new design and to help her get more business. Like I said -  I LOVE to help people.

She was also amazed when I pulled out all sorts of samples of marketing material to show her what I liked and disliked. She asked "where did you get all this from?" "I've been working on this for years and only now is it all coming together." And is it ever! Each day brings new great things. It is amazing.

Tomorrow I have to figure out how to learn to measure a house. I have to be able to do that for my listing but I have no clue. Any suggestions???  I am also going to put together a pre-listing package for my sellers and hold a bookfair at a daycare center. (Gotta make some money to pay my MLS fees)

Have a great night and thanks again for visiting!

being at KW is a great start for a new agent that have lots of resources... But before you get your business cards done..my i suggest

Not use the office line. or office fax, of email ... why building your business is owning you indenty forever. if I get your card today and and need to call you in two years and you changed offices .. does your email, phone, fax follow you

start reading the red book

I have actually done all that. The phone number is my cell. The fax is an e-fax number. The email and website are MINE. And I need to clarify that I am not having to pay her to design my cards or even take my pciture. I only have to pay for the actual printing. :)

Thanks for the suggestion. I am logging off now to read my red book.

I just hit the one year mark at a Keller Williams office here in Houston Texas.  I have loved my 1st year I have learned so much.  I still take all the classes I can because I get something new out of them every time.  If you really really like people you will do great. GoodLuck!!!

Great post!  I just started with Keller Williams.  I can't imagine a new agent getting better training with any other company.  Exciting, isn't it?

Hey Kiri, Congrats on getting in the business! And with Keller Williams... thats awesome!  I am a KW agent as well. Have you started to develop a niche market yet? Or are you still getting your feet wet?  I specialize in short sales... was trained by America's Home Rescue and now I am one of their affliate trainers.  We were a featured speaker at NAR this year and had a ton of positive response. If you are thinking about finding a niche market... you should consider short sales.  Check out www.shortsalesolutions.biz for more information on their training program.  They have live and online classes and we are about to launch our 2009 Short Sale Coaching program.  Let me know if you would like more information!  Take care!  ~Brandi Mahon
