Friday Photo: Dragon Fruit is in Season!

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with Napa Consultants DRE00893924

Dragon fruit pictured above is the fruit of a cactus known as Hylocerus.  It is a fast growing cactus and a high producer. We first tasted at the Farmers Market years ago, and we deemed it "just okay!"

When cut the inside is white flesh with tiny black.  In taste it is sweet and is akin in flavor to the kiwi or pear. It has multiple health benefits and is low in calories.  You can refer to this Every Day health link to learn more.

Wishing Everyone a wonderful weekend.

I've sometimes seen Dragon Fruit at our local Farmers Market.  I've never adventured to try one.  In your photo, they almost look like giant rose buds.

I don't remember ever trying a dragon fruit, but I have seen them in the grocery store. I think I'll grab one next time, just to see what it tastes like.

When I first tasted it I had the same reaction as you, it was ok.  I feel it was difficult to get to, kind of like an orange is sometimes and I don't like things that are a hassle, haha.
