Montgomery County, Maryland COVID-19 Update 5/12/2021

County to Offer Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccine to Residents 12-15 Years Old

The Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine is now available to anyone 12 and older. Pfizer is the only vaccine that has been given emergency use authorization for young people who are 12 – 15 years old.

If you preregistered on the County website, we will invite you to schedule an appointment. We will contact people on the preregistration list, including 12- to 15-year-olds, within the next week.  Registrants who are 12 to 18 years old must have permission from a parent or guardian to receive a dose of the vaccine and provide proof of their age when they arrive at a vaccination clinic. We will begin vaccinating this age group at County sites on Thursday,
May 13.

NEW! Scheduling Website Has a New Look

A new streamlined web page makes it easier to schedule your own appointments at County-run clinics. We continue to add clinic locations, dates, and times.

Get a Vaccination at Your Local Pharmacy

You can also get vaccinated at area pharmacies, including CVS, Giant, Harris Teeter, Safeway, Walgreens, and Walmart. Use the State website to find pharmacy locations near you and make appointments.  Appointments are currently available.

COVID-19 Vaccine:  By the Numbers

As of Tuesday, May 12, Montgomery County reports 595,105 Montgomery County residents (56.5%) received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, and 462,236 residents (44.0%) are fully vaccinated.

This is good news and we are moving closer to reopening. Capacity limits, as well as when different types of businesses and services can resume, are tied to the percentage of residents who are fully vaccinated.  More information is available on the reopening page.

Although the County’s numbers are encouraging and we are making great progress, COVID-19 is still circulating in the community. We need more residents to get vaccinated and tested. See the Montgomery County COVID-19 Data Dashboard for key indicators and more details.

Remember:

  • If you received your first dose at a County-run clinic but have not received an email three days before your second dose due date, please email c19vaccination@montgomerycountymd.gov or call 240-777-1755 for assistance in scheduling a second dose appointment.
  • For an online record of your COVID-19 vaccination, view your account in Maryland MyIR. MyIR is Maryland's online immunization record system.

They haven't released that age group here.  I know one of my grands is 14 and can't wait to get the vaccine since everyone else in her household was able to get it but her.  Great info and I hope that you have a wonderful day!
