Trending Types of Awning Shades 2021
Awnings are set to become even more popular for 2021. With a history as far back as 1624, the word awnings are thought to come from the French word 'Auvants,' meaning sloping roof. Traditionally a sloping cover to protect a window or door from the sun, the awning is set to somewhat revive for 2021, with specific styles and colors being in high demand.
Modern awnings come in a variety of styles, shapes, and colors. They can be made from aluminum, polyester vinyl composite, acrylic-coated polyester, PVC coated woven polyester and other natural materials.
Going into 2021, the trending types of awning shades consist of the following designs and features.
Pergola awnings are holding steady in the market thanks to their flexibility for a wide range of practical usage. Being able to provide cover and shade as and when needed, pergola awnings can come in a variety of different materials and styles. A more common option is a fabric cover, but there are other options available too.
Most notably, the ShadeSelect adjustable patio covers can be installed in either a manual or motorized option. The louvered roof system is ideal for providing cover yet let light and air in. This particular design offers owners a fully flexible patio awning that is ideal for most weather conditions.
Retractable awnings allow you to open up and close away your awning when it isn't in use. Similar to the adjustable awnings, instead of being fitted to a feature in your garden, the awning is fitted to an external wall. Again options include manual retracting awnings. You use a pole to close away the awning or an electric one, which is arguably more expensive than larger awnings.
Choose a half or full cassette awning - a full cassette awning will protect the arms of the awnings against the elements and the cover. A half cassette only protects the fabric, and the arms fold away.
Double Free Standing Awnings
Double Free Standing awnings remain popular due to their ability to be moved anywhere you need them, much like a parasol. Unlike the wall-fixed retractable awning, free-standing awnings can be used in all areas of your garden. Fold them away when not in use and open them up again wherever you need them, great for covering pools, children's play areas, seating, and more.
Shade Sail Awning
A more contemporary style of awning, the shade sail is gaining popularity with more modern homes and younger audience due to its aesthetically pleasing shape and floating appearance,
Shade sails are generally made from woven high-density polyester and come in different shapes and styles.. Fitted with enclosed hooks to allow for easy hanging, the shade can be installed anywhere in your garden where you have walls or a solid structure to fit it too. Its ability to float in the air relies heavily on being pulled taught when fitted to give it the stability to stay in place. These shades can be removed in inclement weather.
Choosing the right awning for your home depends on your needs and the practicality of fitting options. For this reason, a key awning trend for 2021 will be a double free-standing awning perfect for the ever-changing family climate or entertaining aspect in homes across the country.
