What are your favorite colors for bedrooms?

I was just wondering what your favorite color (or colors) are for bedrooms...and whether or not your opinion changes when you are selling a home.

In general, when people, when people are planning to live and stay in their home, I really believe that people should choose a color they love...and one that relaxes them.

I also think it's super helpful to have a color that helps you fall asleep (and sleep better).  Scientifically, blues help the most with a good night's sleep, followed by grays.

And, of course, blue gray paint colors also work extremely well.  This is probably because both blues and grays are cool colors, so they're more relaxing.

I'm sure you can imagine how warm colors, like a bright yellow, reflects more light and keeps you awake longer.  Or how bright reds may do the same...as well as make you hungrier (and yes, that's often why you see reds in restaurants).

But, what do you recommend when you're selling a house?  Do you find it makes a big difference?

I mean certainly bright, saturated and taste specific colors are a no go.

But what are your thoughts on white vs a pale blue or pale gray or a pale blue gray?  Are they all fine?  Do you think it makes a difference?  Do you hear your buyers comment on this?

Or, do most people plan to paint the bedrooms anyway (after they buy, but before they move in)?

I'm just curious to hear your opinions and experience.

And, what do your local painters recommend?  And, what do local stagers recommend?

Debbie,

When it comes to colors, I am always guided by the light that comes in to the room both daytime and nightime. I try different colors on different walls and then decide.  One of our guest bedroom was heavenly with a white with hints of lavender as the light changed...for me it depends...A

We prefer lighter tones. The last time we painted our bedroom it was a shade of antique white

My taste is changing, I used to like everything white and black, in a bit I missed bright colors, and soon again I'm back to muted natural zen colors.
