During the crazy housing market we are all experiencing, it's easy to get caught up in the every day minutiae, sacrificing our own schedules and relationships. And of course in real estate, if you want to get busy, plan a vacation. But isn't that exactly what we should be doing? Plan your personal time before your business plans your life!
In the photo above, my three daughters, oldest granddaughter and youngest grandson are looking out to the beach on a Saturday morning. I'll remember this vacation with the entire family in one house until I'm about to turn off the lights for the last time. It's so hard to get us all together as we are in 4 different states! These rare times are priceless memories.
If the pandemic has taught us anything, it's that life is short. Life is fleeting. In an instant your kindergartner is graduating high school. So if you don't spend time with those you love, you'll regret it later.
No beach vacation is complete without ice cream! We visited The Yard Milkshake Bar, talk about decadent! The wait was a bit long, but for this crowd of 15, their ice cream creations were worth the wait!
The boys went fishing! My son-in-law Ryan, not pictured, took my other son-in-law and 2 grandsons deep sea fishing couresty of Caribe Marina & Watersports. I hear some motion sickness took over for the younger one, but they caught a few!
This tradition of renting a house for the entire family was started by my daughter's grandmother. She carefully planned and hosted vacations for up to 21 people at a time on different beaches. Loving and missing that tradition, I started this a few years back. Our fav go-to beach is in Gulf Shores, Alabama so about 2 years in advance, research starts for 7+ bedroom homes with pools. Booking this type of home with a pool is much more difficult as they book up quickly.
The youngest grandchild, pictured, is now expecting a baby sister; and my oldest granddaughter is now married to a handsome fireman. They bought their first home a year ago, so another generation is ready to expand our family!
Life has changed for all of my girls in many ways with expanding families and new careers.
To this day Colton still loves to help his Mom (the bright blonde in the previous photo.) His mom has many adorable videos of Colton loading the dishwasher, vacuuming, and picking up after himself. Thankfully, Facetime helps bring those memories to life!
Hard to imagine this grandson is almost ready to turn 19! Ethan's birthday has been celebrated at the beach many times as he gets taller and his voice deeper.
These slippers and sandals are now too small! Time flies and families expand and move on.
The last day at the beach is always a bit somber as we pack up, doing the kids' laundry, helping everyone find parts of toys and locking up. I'm looking forward to our next beach vacation in 2023 when we'll have another grandchild to celebrate and photograph.
Thank you to Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP for the May Contest. Warm memories for sure:)
