I Take Regular Hikes of 6 Miles Each Trip

I have an addiction that I have had for 60 years. I like to play golf. My wife has said that she is the second love of my life, and I now better than to argue with her.

My skill level may not be what it was at one time, but I still play better than most though but not as good as the kids 30-40 years my junior, but handicaps are the great equalizers.

On a crisp morning or even a sunny morning there is a feeling that takes over and we become one with the environment, except for the words uttered over a bad shot.

When on vacation, we will take walks around a golf course especially those that are so well maintained and it is so very peaceful.

I ill continue to enjoy my walks until the day comes when I am forced to ride in one of those carts, but I do hope it is not for a while. I am working to hit my age in score and that has a possibility as well.

Ed being active keeps us young.  And better to ride in a cart than in a box my friend. 😋

Hi Ed:

Well I am not a golfer by any stretch of the imagination, but I applaud your dedication, and the regular exercise. Good for you for walking instead of doing it all by golf cart...if I understand correctly. And how about that 19th hole?!

Good morning Ed - golf is a great way to stay in shape at any age.  I just never caught on to it.  I tried it in my  20's.

Good morning again, Ed... you keep walking those six miles and you won't need any cart to get you around!

Golf provides more exercise than people would think, especially if you walk the course during your round.

Hello Ed - good for you.  Go, Cart, Go.  (That's in - leave the cart behind if exercise is the goal).   It seems to me that many who call golf a sport are spending much time at the 19th hole.  Nothing wrong with that if camaraderie and social activity is the goal but I wonder when did lifting adult beverages become a competitive sport?

Ron golfed for a while, and I would walk around the course. He realized it was not his passion.   They are always so beautiful.  We walk on the beach whenever possible, and it usually a 4 mile walk, and on some days it is 6 miles.  A

George Souto   The only times I ride are when my legs have issues, or on vacation and they mandate a cart.

Jeff Dowler, CRS   One must pause at the 19th to do some gloating or paying but for me those stops are minimal.  After all there are clients looking for expertise I might have

Grant Schneider   I started at 14 and have had it as a way to relax since.

Brian England   If you don't walk it you really can't say you played the course, IMHO.

Kat Palmiotti   There have been very few times that I rode instead of walked.  I feel I play better as I get a chance to think of what I did and what I have to do.

Michael Jacobs  The lifting of libations as a competitive sport began with the onset of adult hood and some just never realized it was time to grow up.

Rocky Dickerson  That was time time of the caddy even before the pull cart

Ed, sure sounds like some great exercise, and funny how our skills for these games diminish over the years.

Hi Ed Silva - I come from a family of golfers.  I never played a lot but I would go to the course with my dad.  I often say that it was golf that kept my dad in great shape.  There is peacefulness as well when you are on the course.

Enjoy your golfing. My wife was an avid golfer for many years but had to stop playing last year because of physical limitations. Getting old can be difficult.

I only tried golf once. It wasn't pretty. I was dating a guy who worked at a course and he wanted to teach me. After that first attempt, he didn't try again. LOL

Walking is definately one of the best thhings you can do for yourself.  I get up every day at 5:30 and walk 4 miles, it really gets me ready for the day!  In the cold winter months I use a treadmill, which couldn't keep up with me and fizzled in April.

Keep it up!
