Sountrack of a Lifetime - 2021 - Grand Funk Railroad

Grand Funk Railroad is a hard rock band that originated in Flint Michigan. Despite the word “funk” in the band’s name their sound was purely rock. With hit songs like “We’re An American Band” and the cover of the Little Eva song, “The Locomotion” they sold over 25 million records worldwide. At one-point Grand Funk was so popular they outsold the Beatles

One of their biggest hits was the 1975 single Bad Time written and sung by Marc Farner. The story goes that Farner was going through a nasty divorce when he supposedly met “the girl of his dreams.” He wrote the song expressing his inability to act upon his desire. Bad Time peaked at #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1975.

The Band saw quite a few personnel changes over the years but continued to perform all their old songs for sell out audiences. In 1996 all three original members reunited for a summer tour in which they played to over 250,000 people,

In 2008 much of Grand Funk Railroad’s original master recordings and videos were destroyed by fire at Universal Studio in Hollywood. So, if you own any Grand Funk Railroad albums hang on to them, they may be irreplaceable.

I never thought there is ever a Bad Time to be in love. But let’s listen anyway.

No wonder I had no clue from your title, Joseph. Not a lover or listener of hard rock!

I am not much of a music guy, but I do enjoy the diversity that so many great artists have provided over the years.

It is funny how I have no clue about a song until the second I play it and then remember it instantly.  Thank you for the trip down Memory Lane.

Hello Joseph - while I have heard of the band, I doubt I would be able to cite any song they recorded without a great deal of luck.

I agree, Michael Jacobs, but what a memorable name for a band!

At that time, I was only taking in what my parents listened to and unfortunately, I don't think they knew much about rock music.
