Real Estate Sign Stealer - Abacoa Jupiter Florida

Real Estate Agent with Berkshire Hathaway Home Services

Word on the street is that one of the local real estate agents who works in Abacoa is stealing signs? Has anyone else had their signs stolen by another agent and what did you do? I've talked to a few people and they say there is really nothing the board will do? The custom Abacoa signs are not cheap.

I have not but since you have an idea of who is taking your signs, are you going to be approaching this person about it?

I've had signs stolen and turned up at garage sales.  People snitch them and then cover up the actual sign with their own advertisment for a garage sale.

I've also had the highway/city dept. remove signs that they deemed illegal. If a sign is along the road they will remove it and take it to an area where we can retrieve it.

We have areas where you need to have a permit attached to the sign in order to place it on a property. If the sign doesn't have the proper permit sticker, it's history!

Once we had a listing in the mountains. Someone kept removing the sign.  We eventually got tired of replacing signs so the last one we put some kind of nasty ink all over the frame, so when the thief touched it, he was a marked man!  LOL

Hey, Steven. I hate to hear this, but I would think that the board would see this as an ethics issue. Have you check with them about this? If not, can you report this as an act of theft? All my best, Jim

Years ago, before I was a REALTOR, we were selling our home with an agent. She would put up a directional sign at the corner on friday evening and by saturday morning it was gone. She blamed it on kids. Next weekend, the same thing happened. I asked her if perhaps it was illegal to put the signs up, or maybe she needed a permit. She countered that this is America and she has the right to free speech, etc. After the fourth sign dissapeared, I called city hall and was informed that there was a crew that drove around with a city truck every saturday morning picking up all the illegal signs placed along the road right-of-way. If the signs weren't claimed after a few days, they went to the landfill.

I have not had any of my signs stolen, however once in a while I will lose a rider. They are easier to swipe, I guess.

Wow, thanks for the fast responses....

These signs are being stolen by a local agent who lives in the area, and while I wont' call him out I believe others will when they realize he steals more than just their signs. An agent mind you who believes if he takes down competitors signs he will get more business.
