TGIF in Your Backyard in Carlsbad

The TGIF Concerts in the Parks have been a popular staple of the summer entertainment season for many years in Carlsbad. Typically there are 9 free outdoor concerts in 4 of our best parks on consecutive Fridays from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. The park venues changed a few years ago when they added Alga Norte Community Park to the mix, making it 4.
The very popular TGIF Concerts featured a wide range of music (jazz, latin, blues, 80s, and much more) and some pretty impressive bands with regional and national reputations, and were typically attended by a couple thousand people or so.
In 2020, as with so many area events, the TGIF Concert series was sadly canceled.
But this summer there is a new option to get you in the mood for when the TGIF Concerts in the Parks series returns in 2022, which is the 35th anniversary.
TGIF in Your Backyard allows you to enjoy your own TGIF celebration in your own sanctuary, along with family and friends, and hear 4 virtual concerts recorded on 4 Fridays (in keeping with the TGIF tradition). The concerts will be recorded at the Schulman Auditorium at the Dove Library Complex in South Carlsbad.
Recordings will be available through the City of Carlsbad website and will be available for viewing for a week – stay tuned for more information on accessing these concerts.

July 9 - Euphoria Brass Band
July 23 - Kimba Light
August 6 - 80z All-Stars
August 20 - The Mighty Untouchables (a TGIF favorite for years)
Of course it's not the same as sitting in a beautiful park on a summer evening enjoying live music, but you don't have to worry about finding parking! And no crowds! I think it's a great alternative, given the option of not having the concerts at all!
