Motivational Monday...Your Pace, Not Theirs
When we take road trips, Larry and I share the driving. While Larry sometimes uses the Speed Control feature when we’re out on the highway, it’s not something I always do. Maybe it’s a control issue but that’s another post.
On one of our excursions, while I was at the wheel, I was listening to music and trying not to speed (too much.)
I found myself behind some cars that were going at or below the limit. Not really thinking about it, I found myself going at or below the speed limit too.
Perhaps I was in Driver’s La-La Land ...paying attention to the road to make sure I was driving safely but not totally.
Then it dawned on me...why did I adjust my speed to what the others were driving? There were other cars passing us in the passing lane.
Get my drift?
In our personal or work lives, it’s important to choose the pace at which we want to travel to get where we want to be.
If we start following those who are going slower or faster than what we are comfortable with, we lose some control over our own journey.
Take some time to be aware of your own pace...make adjustments if it’s right for you, but whatever you do, don’t fall asleep at the wheel.
...you must always be yourself and do things at your own pace. Someday, you'll catch up. Natsuki Takaya
