Do you see a problem or issue, with this photo? Look, very carefully. I would remove this duct work as well as replace this duct work. Replace with new. Notice the insualtion that is around the duct work? This acts like a sponge and holds water so it is best to remove it.
This was a crawl space that had water damage from the kitchen and water affected the kitchen area as well as water got down into vent and the weight of the water disengaged duct work in crawl space. Notice, any other issue? Do you see any other issue?
Water damage can create so much havoc to homes, if not corrected. Think water. Think Water Damage. Think Mold Damage and think Mold Removal.
If you ever have a Water Damage, what do you do first?
Think, turning off the water to home until the leak or plumbing is repaired. This can be to the shut off valve to the house or to the sink or toilet. Just make sure that the shut off valve is lubricated so you do not break the valve. You can use WD-40. Some people have even used peanut butter to help with lubrication.
So, what do you do if the water from the upstairs has affected the crawl space? Remove as much water as possible and then dry out the areas that were wet or are wet. The longer you wait, the bigger the issue you can have or create with mold. We do not want Mold!
I have seen so many people leave the crawl space that was affected by water damage. Either, because they did not realize that water could or would affect there crawl space or they forgot that water falls downward. Get things dried out as quickly as possible. You usually have within 24 to 48 hours before Mold begins to grow but conditions also play a role with this.
If you have questions about Water Damage or Water Removal, I would be more than happy to discuss things with you on the phone.
