locket picture antique historic jewelry

This little jewel caught my eye at a recent estate sale.  The size is 2.5" by 3" and has a picture of a lady who seems to have on one of those head scarfs that were worn during World War II. So this may have been designed as a locket for wearing around the neck.  On the back it has a means to wear it in either direction with a chain or ribbon.

I have never seen one just like it and it is very interesting.  Plastic covers the picture which seems to have been slid into position and firmly held in place.

Perhaps a Searcy Sleuth will know more about it......and maybe recognize the lady???  Wouldn't that be interesting!

Hello Barbara - I am curious, can you tell if the location is in Searcy?  There doesn't seem to be much evidence for my untrained eyes. Good luck.

Michael, I bought it at an estate sale in Searcy where lots of collectible family items seemed to be there.  But I don't know where it is from or who she is.

When I come across items like that one, I always wonder about the rest of the story!

So do I.  And I want to try to get the picture out and make it bigger.

What interests me is the pedestal she's sitting on. It reminds me of some of the structures in the bath houses in Hot Springs.
