Do It Yourself, Mold Sampling. I Could Use Your Opinion.

I could use your assistance on something.

Is there a need for homeowners to know what is in their air, regarding Mold Sampling and Testing, in all 50 States?  To determine if they have elevated levels of Mold and what kind of Mold is in their home and what are the health effects, according to the lab, as the lab does testing?  In other words, would homeowners want to know, if they have elevated levels of Mold in their home, and if so, what are the health effects, that they might want to address or bring to the attention of their health care professional?  I  could also mix and match.  For example, send 3 Q tips for a swab to rub on the mold for testing and air samples.  Or, I could send all swabs out.  Up to the client.  I could mix and match or send all air.

I am considering offering folks in all 50 states a kit to take air samples and they send samples back to me for testing and I get samples tested and then,  I go over test results with the client.  They will get up to 30 minutes of my time, after I get in test results from the lab and I will personally go over the lab report, with my client.

I am considering offering this on a massive scale to homeowners or buyers or sellers, who want to know what is going on with their building or home.

If I go to people's homes or buildings to perform Mold Inspections, my price is more than if I send out a kit to take the sample or samples that the client takes and they send back to me and I have samples tested.

For example, if I send out 5 samples to someone in any state, here is what they would get.  This is for do-it-yourself people and to save money if people just want peace of mind for there own home they are in.

For example, if I send out 5 air samples to take with the pump that I send out to take air samples,  my price would be $595.00  This would include me providing the pump and the air cassettes to take the samples and lab testing and me personally going over the lab report, so the client understood, the lab report and what was going on.  This would also include me shipping it to the client but it would not include the return shipping to me that I would then send in to the lab for lab testing.   The pump that I send out,  would be the clients and I would not want the pump back.  In other words, the biggest value would be me going over the lab report, based on the client taking the samples.  I have 34 years of experience in the industry.

In other words, would this be affordable, IF, I were to offer this to everyone in every United States?  Would there be a need or demand for this?

Do you think this would be affordable and helpful to others, just email me or put your suggestions in the comment area,   If you choose.

I am considering implementing this in August 2021.

This pricing model,  would not include me going to the property.

I would have to have a 5 sample minimum to make this pricing work if the homeowner, took the samples and sent them back to me for testing.

Would this be affordable?  Would there be a need?

If the client wanted express service, , the client would have to pay the extra fee.

Let me know your thoughts.

Thank you,

Hello David - when I hear the phrase "Do It Yourself" connected with anything I am not remotely comfortable or familiar enough, it's usually followed by an action in the opposite direction.   Good luck.

David, here in Denver, we are so dry, rarely do we have issues with mold.  BUT, it is raining every afternoon right now.

Hi David- I don't know. For me, I would probably look for someone local if I had a concern about mold in my home. $595 seems high, though I don't doubt the services you would provide.
