If you're like us, you've got several roadtrips coming up this summer. And while it's easy to use our devices these days to keep the family entertained, there's only so much of the same movie you can watch.
That's why, today we have easy activities to do on your next roadtrip. Try one out!
1. Use Questions
Questions are the perfect way to connect without the fuss! Use this list of SUPER fun questions to ask kids or family and you'll get the car talking in no time. You could also try would you rather questions where you pick two outrageous topics and the person has to make a choice.
2. Play the License Plate Game
This game has been around forever and for good reason! Grab a piece of paper and write the plates as you see them. You'll all be entertained for hours just trying to find the next state.
3. Create Your Favorite Town
If your trip involves meandering through towns, make it a game to invent your favorite town. What would be in it? Where would your favorite place be? This opens up the imagination and creativity that you can't get from your devices.
Next, listen to a great audiobook or podcast. Driving is the BEST time to learn something new through listening! What would you like to know more about? Afterwards, you can discuss what you learned or even discuss the big plot twist from a story you listened to.
5. Discuss Your Life
Finally, while this is an odd one, it's one of the very few times that everyone is together in a small space without distractions. So, use it to talk about what you want your life to look like. If you're with kids, then discuss what they like about their family life and what they'd love to change. Being intentional with your time together will pay dividends in the long run.
There you have it! Use your road trip time for fun and connection through questions or the license plate game. OR use it to think about your life and learn something new. The choice is yours, but either way, it's so much better when you use this car downtime intentionally and with purpose. Plus, the kids will be entertained without the screens!
