Long Island Condo Buyer Do You Need A Garage?

Do You Need Garage Space?...We always ask this question when speaking to a potential Condo buyer, as not all our Long Island communities have them. 

 

For Example, Blue Ridge Condominium, Bretton Woods, Sagamore Hills, Nob Hill and Snug Harbor do not have any garages. They do have ample parking lots within the different sections. Yet, without any garages, they are each very popular communities. 

 

Some Condo communities have garages and also have units with only a parking space, like the Townhouse we recently sold in Fairfield At St. James. This residence did not have a garage, yet we had multiple offers that were over the asking price.

 

Sure many people want the convenience of extra storage space, bad weather conditions or for security reasons, but sometimes these aren't an issue if the buyer really wants a certain community and location.

 

We are currently working with a buyer who only wants to move to Foxgate in Central Islip, where there are no garages. She said she always had a garage, and needs one, but if we can find her a unit there she would move in a second!

 

Do more buyers want to have a garage at their Long Island Condo than not? Probably, but the lack of one at a Long Island Condo may not be the motivation all buyers are looking for.

Good morning, Sheila and Larry... we have communities built all around Charlotte in the 1950's through the early 1980's that had no garages. But these days it seems people really want a garage if for no other reason than for storage.

Having a garage is an amenity that I enjoy so if I were to ever purchase another home, it would likely need to include a garage.
