When we are young, and in our teens, it seems to be all about our looks. Am I too tall, too thin, too fair, too flat? Is my hair too curly or too straight? And a zit can paralyze at this age?
I once wrote about Kickass shoes. Whenever I spoke, I had on my high heels. They gave me the confidence to stand in front of clients or a group. But after an ankle reconstruction, no more KA shoes. Uh oh, does that mean I can no longer speak in front of a group? Was it the shoes that gave me that confidence?
I had to find that same confidence from within. I thought back to a hair and makeup for a photoshoot and filming and how I felt...great, beautiful, confident. But there was no change in me, only in the mirror! Going to the gym, working out, sweaty, no makeup, how to bring that same feeling of confidence. Nobody cares or notices how you look. They are only interested in the way they present themselves.
It’s funny when we are in our teens and twenties, looking back at how “perfect” we were. But the confidence was not there.
Reach inside, remember that good feeling from the shoes or the haircut, doing a great job or whatever it was that gave you that confidence.
That’s what I would like to teach everyone. To feel pretty, intelligent, successful, and confident without makeup, without the strict diet, the tanning salon, or whatever "prop" gives you that feeling.
Where do you get your confidence?
