If there's a time I realize just how blessed my life is, it's around the Independence Day holiday. Independence Day always reminds me of how blessed I am to live in this beautiful nation... truly the land of freedom and opportunity where we can make our dreams come true. This weekend reminded me once again to reflect on my own blessings, as well as to be more conscious of being a blessing to those around me.
Willie Nelson famously said "when I started counting my blessings my whole life turned around."

"Using our blessings" need not be difficult or costly:
♦ Writing someone a personal note of encouragement or praise.
♦These days with so many people just texting, text a message of encouragement or praise.
♦ Smile at someone. Smiling is free, it's contageous and is sure to brighten anyone's day.
♦ Give someone a hug (also free)... during the pandemic hugging was probably not part of most people's lives... but it's time to start hugging again.
♦ Ask someone about their day, about what's happening in their life... and then really listen.
♦ Give someone a little gift that reflects something they love to do... it doesn't have to be expensive, just unexpected.
♦ Volunteer/organize a drive for a good cause... find a cause you're passionate about and find a way to help.
