Charlotte Area Gets A Casino: Two Kings Casino Opens

CHARLOTTE AREA'S FIRST VEGAS-STYLE CASINO OPENS IN KINGS MOUNTAIN

July 1st saw a "soft opening" for the Two Kings Casino Resort on 16.57 acres of tribal land in Kings Mountain. Developed by the Catawba Nation, the temporary 29,000 square foot casino, built from 29 modular trailers, will feature 500 slot machines, a bar and an out-door patio served by a rotating list of food trucks. The casino will be open 24/7. Additionally, the Two Kings Casino will be just one of a few venues offering sports betting in North Carolina, which was illegal in the state until 2019.

Once the Two Kings Casino Resort is completed hopefully in 2022, it will be a 195,000-square-foot mixed use development with 75,000+ square feet of gaming space. The casino will offer 1,796 slots, 54 table games, a player’s club, restaurants and bars with some 940 seats. It will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Situated in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Kings Mountain is located about a half-hour's drive from Charlotte in Gaston and Cleveland Counties just west of Charlotte. Kings Mountain, whose motto is "the Historical City," takes its name from a historical Revolutionary War battle fought five miles south. Kings Mountain National Military Park and two state parks are but a five minute drive from the center of town.

Rocky Dickerson hi Rocky... I remember those days, as well. And then the gambling came to Atlantic City which was close to Ocean City where my brother lives.

Like yourself I do not gamble Nina Hollander, Broker . I have seen it destroy people, marriages and families. I could not believe that it was brought to our State of ND years ago by a Republican (RINO) during the Republican campaign of "family values". I was, and still am, appauled by this. It brings in a huge ammount of revenue for the State that these law makers can't wait to spend... and they do BUT nothing or very little is spent on addiction programs to help those who now have been insnared by this hidious State sponsored addiction.

Bob "RealMan" Timm I get your point, Bob... but if we follow this argument to its logical conclusion, we need to stop selling alcohol, tobacco, etc. They are also the causes of major additctions that destroy families. I believe the people who are truly addicted to gambling will always find a way to gamble. And somehow I don't see a return to any kind of prohibition in any of our states regardles of the "vice."

Nina Hollander, Broker I agree and disagree. Additions do not start until the addicted try something first. The less accessable a substance or behavior is the less temptation it is.  I could/can go on and on about this but I don't want to bore you.

Bob "RealMan" Timm No worries, Bob... I like a good debate! :)

Lise Howe hi Lise... that might very well be. Certainly in those places where gambling is not commong, those casinos make quite a bit of money.

Nina, Huge facility when finished.  With the size of the temporary gaming rooms I believe we know who will be footing the majority of the bill.  lol   Should be an excellent draw for the area as well as bringing in money to more than just the casino.  Mark

Wow, the casino looks amazing. I hope I'll have a chance to visit it one day. But I live in another state, and there is no casino in my city yet. But it's not a problem because nowadays the gambling industry is very developed, and there are a lot of online casinos, where you can play from any part of the world. And it's good, because not every city, like Kings Mountain has a casino.

Jason Watts hello Jason... I'm not a gambler so casinos have no attraction for me. I'm happy to have had an experience at the casino in Monte Carlo... but that's a whole other experience.
