I was thrilled that we were able to still have a celebration for my parent's 50th wedding anniversary. It was much smaller than what was planned, but I think my parent's really enjoyed it and everyone seemed to have a fun time. I had been planning this event for the past 2 years and part of it was supposed to be a big surprise. I had family coming from Tennessee, Colorado, Texas, California, etc. The supposed pandemic really threw a wrench into those plans, haha. The surprising part of it did not occur and that really bummed me out but at the same time saved me money, haha.

 

Pictured is the cake from the party, which I did not bake (y'all probably knew that already). Costco was the provider and it was delicious! I didn't really get any pictures of the rest of the food, but we had a decent spread.

 

The video I am sharing is not from the party, but it is one of my favorite videos to share that shows the love that my Dad has for my Mom. My Dad had asked me to write a letter to the local radio station because they were having their annual Mother of the Year selection and he wanted my Mom to win it. Well, what do you know, she won! She was so surprised when they showed up with flowers and gifts letting her know that she won. She had no idea that she had even been nominated, I think she might have cried being so filled with happiness. The video is a collage that I put together with the radio announcement in the background as a keepsake for them and I think it turned out pretty good. It is somewhat long, but I always find it worth watching again and again!

Brian England - What a lovely video you created and the music/song by Celine Dion was perfect! You were blessed with a beautiful mom. What a wonderful gift she was given, not only to have such great children and grandchildren, but an amazing husband too. And of course you're the perfect son, as I'm sure your siblings are too! After being lucky enough to meet your mom and dad, I can honestly she deserved this award for Mother of the Year and earned it too! My eyes were welled up with tears in a good way. Perhaps it's because her signature smile goes a long way to making others feel good about themselves too. May your mom and dad have many more wedding anniversaries and special memories with you and your family. The pace of the video was just right. Your mom is simply remarkable and a great role model for mothers everywhere. Please let them know it was an honor and privilege to meet them and all that rain we endured that day was symbolic for all the blessings she deserves. Thank you for sharing.
