Tips on Turning Away Backyard Party Crashers!
A great amount of effort goes into preparing a space for an afternoon or evening of entertaining guests. Planning a tasty food menu plus beverages, dusting all surfaces, pulling out lawn furniture, choosing games and music takes time.
Making invited visitors comfortable and feel welcome is at the top of the list and includes keeping all pests at bay for the duration. There are many things that can be done in advance to create an optimum setting for all.
-- Place citronella plants around to repel mosquitoes.
-- House-fly traps entice them in with no way to get out.
-- Turn on the patio fans, flying bugs detest a good breeze.
-- Cover food up with clear domes to deter ants and wasps.
-- Remove any stagnant water, instead, turn on water features.
Bugs are attracted to sweet dishes like watermelon, coleslaw, baked beans, etc. By removing the temptation, guests will not have to fight them to get a bite or drink. Being proactive ensures a successful event that everyone can enjoy.
Still or stagnant water is a welcome mat for attracting mosquitoes near and far. They will make people dance a jig or swat to prevent getting bit. Drain the kiddie pool and toys, dump bird baths and buckets, clean all gutters out.
Forgo harsh chemicals, rely instead on healthier methods. Basil, Marigold flowers, Rosemary, Catnip, Lemon scented Geranium's and Chrysanthemum's are also an all-natural way to repel mosquitoe's, roaches, ants, ticks, fleas and bedbugs.
Take my advice and those pesky party crashers will think twice about crashing your backyard party. They may, however, show up in force at an unsuspecting neighbors event! LOL
