Water Damage, Decay And Mold Damage.

Have you ever seen Water Damage, Wood Rot, and Mold Damage, all at the same time?  Well, here we are.  Here is an example.  Below, is the story.

Once upon a time, there lived a man and woman, who lived in a home that had a smell to their home and they did not know, what the smell was.  Although, things did smell musty and they had had two other companies to their home to take care of the issue.  David Snell came and did an inspection with an infrared red scan to walls and ceilings to home and found an anomaly around the fireplace area.  David proceeded to do penetrating and non-penetrating readings to and around the fireplace.  He found elevated moisture level readings inside the home as well as outside issues.  There was other work that was done to the crawl space by other companies but this did not seem to take care of their issue.  David came and located the issue and proceeded to set up a date with the client to correct the issue.  Here is a photo of the issue of what was found, when we opened up the wall cavity.  We found water damage, Mold, wood rot, and the presence of termites.  The termites went into a feeding frenzy with the wood and destroyed the wood.  So, you see, moisture and water damage is an invitation for termites to come and feed. Moisture issues from water damage can cause more than just mold.  Moisture issues from water damage from the outside to the inside can cause and create havoc on the inside of the home. We had to remove wood on the outside of the house as well as inside of the home.  This also included sheetrock.  Do people think of issues from water damage and moisture issues on the inside of the home from the outside of the home?  So do and some do not. Before moving on the build back, an extermination company was called on to check the status of the job and what the termites created.  Once we got the clearance to move ahead we did. My point with this article is to educate others.  It is not only the water damage and moisture issues that cause issues but insects and termites as well as mold issues that we have to be aware of.

After getting rid of the rotten wood and eaten wood by termites, we proceeded to cut out and remove the rotten and eaten wood and mold from the above-said photo and cleaned the area, and treated the area.  Before any put-back or build-back, make sure the area is dried out and cleaned, and treated. It is also necessary that the area be dry and clean and vacuumed.  In my next article, you will see stage 2 and what happened.

When you see issues like this, always consult an extermination company for termites.  This was done and the termite company consulted with the homeowner about his options and we moved ahead of schedule to get the homeowner's home put back together after the clean-up.

My name is David Snell and one thing I want to point out is this.  You never know, how much wood rot or decay or even if there is any evidence of termite activity behind the wall.  When you see this kind of evidence, it is a good idea to consult a termite company to give homeowners options with their homes.

My name is David Snell and I am the owner and operator of Executive Restoration LLC and I have been in business since 1987. I am passionate about what I do and offer and I am also passionate about building relationships.

Hello David - a triple threat and another example of one thing leading to another.  It's also a situation that can only get worse and not improve.
