Out side Wood Rot And Termite Activity

When a home has water damage, find the source of the issue.  When you have inside issues, sometimes, outside issues are what created the problem, to begin with.  In the above-said photo, notice the water damage, the mold, the wood rot, and the termite activity?

It is very important to find the source of the problem, to begin with.  We do not always know, what we will run into in life but there are things to consider before work is started.  Inform the client, that there might be hidden wood rot or decay or termite activity.  Termites love moisture and they love wood that is wet and then when they get to the wet wood, sometimes they keep on eating. Wet wood and a wet environment is an invitation to termites to come on in and dine.  Wink.  This homeowner was very fortunate that he did not have more termite issues.  Let's all remember, if you have an area that is wet or has been wet, this is like a special invitation to termites.  We do not want to invite termites into a home.  Once they are in, they can destroy a home or areas of a home.

It is unfortunate for some that termites can do so much damage but they can.  I have seen homes have major damage from termites in the past and this can cause so much money to repair.  Consider getting a Termite company out to your home or building and have them inspect your home from time to time.  You also might want to consider getting on a maintenance plan for termites.  Termite damage can run into thousands of dollars. Also, a note to advise others.  From time to time, get your house inspected by someone.  Not only on the outside of the home but inside the home.  Ask the homeowner questions to see what has happened in the past but the most important thing to do is to inspect the home inside and outside the home.

Also, let me point out, that when people have an issue like the above, happen to their home, they are looking for someone to not only take care of the issue but also someone to reassure them that things will be fine.  Give the homeowner and client, peace of mind and continue to reassure them that things will be alright.

Termite damage can be quite costly if the termites have had a buffet. Smiles.
