Musica Viva Concert and Online Auction Fundraiser (in-person)
Saturday, July 31
Join the Musica Viva Kentlands Orchestra for an evening of music. The first concert of the season will take place on July 31, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. After a season of virtual performances, this concert will be in-person on the lawn of the Kentlands Clubhouse. The rain date is August 1 at 7:00 p.m. The repertoire includes Percy Grainger’s Molly on the Shore that brings together two Irish reels. Originally written as a gift for Grainger’s mother, it is a light piece and perfect for the string ensemble who will be performing.
Other pieces include Novelletten Allegro Molto No. 4 by Samuel Taylor-Coleridge, a Black composer born in England who drew inspiration from traditional African music, and Praeludium und Allegro by Fritz Kreisler, featuring Alessandra Cuffaro on solo violin. As a special surprise, there will be an original composition.
