Always, Always, Always Be Yourself!!

There are people that tend to act like someone else that people like in order to become successful in business, to be accepted into a group of friends, etc.  They see it works for the person they are imitating, so it should work for them. 

Right? 

Not so.  People can see right through the "false" personality.  

A perfect example:

My daughter started dating.  My rule was that I wanted to meet the guy before she goes out with him for the first time.  So, I went to pick up my daughter from school the one day and the boy she'd be dating was with her.  She introduced me to him and he acted nice and polite to me.  I could tell it was fake and that he was acting.  

Later that evening, my daughter asked me of my opinion of the boy.  I told her flat out I did not like him.  She asked why, since he was nice and polite towards me.  I told her the truth and said that this was fake, that he was just trying to impress me.  She didn't understand at the time.  She ended up dumping the guy the following week.  It turned out that he was involved with the wrong crowd and she didn't like it.  

This is just one example of how transparent people are when they try to imitate someone who they are not, just to impress them.  Believe it or not, horses and animals pick that up right away.  

This holds true for dealing with clients and customers.  They prefer you to be your true self.  If you are yourself at all times, you will be more successful.  Throughout my years in the real estate business, I have made a number of new friends and kept clients because I was myself.  Sure, there are some that did not want to continue with me, but that is okay.  Our personalities were not compatible.  

So, when dealing with others, remember you will attract others by being yourself and not someone else.
