Community and Real Estate Information

Spring Hill is a suburban area in Somerville, Massachusetts that is centrally placed. Porter Square and Davis Square to the west, Prospect Hill to the east, and Powder House Square and Winter Hill to the north define the area, which runs north along Sommerville Avenue. Despite the fact that the community is primarily residential, there are several business enterprises along the town's major thoroughfares. Residents enjoy easy access to all they need, including a wide range of schools, public parks, shops, restaurants, recreational opportunities, and much more. As one of the city's original residential subdivisions, the suburb was established in 1843. Many original Colonial-style mansions still exist today, accounting for a substantial percentage of the region's accessible real estate. The National Register of Historic Places included several of these older structures in 1989. The sections between Atherton, Summer, Central, and Spring Streets are important features.

The bulk of Spring Hill houses were built in the late 1800s and early 1900s. These residences are built in a mix of Colonial Revival, Queen Anne, and New England architectural styles, giving the neighborhood a distinct Boston feel. Because the majority of the homes in the neighborhood are older, they have undergone extensive renovation and reconstruction throughout the years. Some have been transformed into duplexes or multi-family homes, while others have been turned into low-density apartment units that make great rental properties. Prices vary due to the broad range of property types in the region, ranging from $500,000 for modest condo units to $1.8 million for bigger mansions.
