Community and Real Estate Information

Wellington is a riverfront community on a peninsula that is bordered to the south by the Mystic River and to the east by the Malden River. The area, which is located in the city center of Medford, MA, is one of the city's major commercial districts and is home to a variety of department shops, retail malls, office buildings, condominium complexes, and more. Residents are treated to a variety of activities and have easy access to a variety of shopping and eating options, many of which are within walking distance of their homes. The Mystic River State Reservation and Torbert Macdonald Park are located to the south of the town. The views of the river and the city of Somerville to the south are spectacular from this well-kept riverfront open space. Residents may enjoy the preserve's beautiful paved walking paths, which weave through forested sections, open spaces, and several waterfront viewing platforms.

A tiny suburban component of the neighborhood, as well as numerous mid-rise condominium projects and apartment buildings, make up the neighborhood's residential parts. Between Rivers Edge Drive and Fellsway Road are single-family houses in the neighborhood. These residences are situated around Harris Park and reflect the region's characteristic Colonial Revival style. Hardiplank exteriors, steepled roofs, raised front porches, a tiny backyard, side-entry driveways for parking, and a basement level for utilities characterize the houses. These homes usually have an open kitchen and dining area, as well as a living room that is ideal for hosting visitors. There is a nice mix of ancient and modern home construction in the neighborhood, although the oldest residences date from the early twentieth century. Two to four-bedroom plans with two to three bathrooms are available in new home construction. Floor areas range from 1,200 to 3,000 square feet. For purchasers seeking that sort of property in Wellington, some duplexes and homes have been renovated into multi-family residences. Property values in the region range from $700,000 to $1.2 million, with apartment units in the high $500,000 level being the cheapest.

Important Considerations

A high-rise condo or apartment is usually your only option. A pocket of additional residential alternatives is just a short walk away, but the crowded crossing makes getting to Station Landing difficult.
